ESP FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Which web browsers can be used with ESP?

Currently, ESP supports Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 5.5, 6, and 7.

How do I set up my browser for ESP?

ESP uses custom sized browser windows that are initialized with JavaScript. Most web browsers consider these custom windows to be pop-up windows and, if they have pop-up blocking capability, will not allow these windows to be displayed. The symptom of this behavior is, when a browser is directed to go to an ESP URL, a brief display of a browser window followed by the browser completely closing.

To fix this problem, the browser pop-up blocker must be configured to allow pop-ups from the ESP URL. In Internet Explorer version 6 or 7, this is accomplished through the Tools menu. Click on Tools, then Pop-up Blocker, then Pop-up Blocker Settings. This will display a dialog box that will allow you to add Website Addresses (URLs) to the list of allowed sites. In the top text box, enter the base URL and then click the Add button. When finished adding the exempt URLs, click on the Close button and you should be ready to go. The URLs that should be added to the list include: xumatech.com, xumatech.net, xumasoft.com, and xumasoft.net.

I added the URLs to the pop-up blocker but my browser still closes, what's wrong?

If you have allowed the ESP pop-ups in Internet Explorer but the browser window continues to close when you direct it to ESP, you may have one or more third-party add-on toolbars blocking pop-ups as well. Most add-on toolbars such as Google Toolbar or Yahoo Toolbar include pop-up blocking as a feature. This additional pop-up blocking is redundant to Internet Explorer's build in pop-up blocking and should be disabled (for all sites, not just ESP). If you have an add-on toolbar, select it's configuration or setup feature and disable pop-up blocking.
